Simon is a math enthusiast, an educator, and a cat dad. In 2016, he attended Fountain Valley School in Colorado Springs. During his junior year, he had the opportunity to tutor a classmate in physics, which sparked his passion for teaching.

 

As an undergraduate, he attended the University of California, San Diego, where he earned a degree in Mathematics and completed two minors—Computer Science & Engineering and Finance. While at UCSD, he worked as a MATLAB tutor for lower-division math courses serving 300+ students. He graduated cum laude (3.907 GPA). 

 

Simon then went on to complete his master’s degree in Columbia University’s Mathematics of Finance (MAFN) program, graduating with a 3.92 GPA.

 

As a recent graduate who has just moved to Albuquerque, Simon has been reflecting on his tutoring experiences and focusing on the importance of meeting students where they are at. He believes in following his students' learning paces and guiding them through material from their perspective. For Simon, the goal of tutoring extends beyond textbooks and coursework: it’s about helping students build confidence and develop the skills to tackle challenging problems both in and beyond academics.

 

In his spare time, he enjoys gaming, cooking, drawing, and spending time with his cat.
