JC has 28 years of teaching experience in elementary, middle and high schools as a math coach, reading interventionist, math interventionist, science teacher, and instructional coach supporting K-5 reading and math across the curriculum.

 

JC was selected as a Scottish Rite Literacy Fellow and delivered professional development to teachers in school districts in New Mexico to improve early literacy and support teachers in quality literacy instruction.  He was selected by the New Mexico Public Education Department as an online instructional coach to facilitate online professional learning communities statewide to support teachers in rural New Mexico. His tenure as a K-8 science teacher led to increased student test scores when working in international and stateside schools.  

 

He has served on curriculum committees in international and U.S. schools and has reviewed online courses and assessment items for the New Mexico Public Education Department. JC has mentored teachers online as part of the Achieve Excellence cadre through a New Mexico Public Education Department program.

 

Currently, JC is retired from classroom teaching and has been enjoying painting, cooking, gardening and golfing with friends. He is excited to be working with students again.
